PHYLLIS BARR

Phyllis Barr lives in several centuries simultaneously. Her firm, Corporate Culture MarketingSM by Barr Consulting Services, assists Not-for-Profits with leveraging their history & heritage and DNA as a fundraising tool.

Barr was born and raised in New York City. She studied acting for many years. After her first semester as an acting major at Adelphi University, she decided that she wanted to write about the theater instead of acting. She became a journalism and English literature major. Barr founded, edited and wrote play reviews for the student newspapers arts section, probably the first of its kind in the country.

After graduation, she entered the business world and worked for such companies as Hearst Magazines, Time, Inc., Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, WNET and Petry Television.

Barr then decided to take a different career path and went on to receive two Masters Degrees in American History and a Certificate in Archival Management from New York University, as well as training in conducting oral history interviews and curating exhibits.

For fourteen years, Barr ran a multi-faceted department for Trinity Church, Wall Street, for which she created many programs.
and acted in historical pageants which she also wrote upon the occasion of various anniversary celebrations. Her favorite "character" was Abigail Adams. She also played Queen Mary II and Queen Anne.
